Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use emeraldscout.com, why, and what rights you have over it under the GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
emeraldscout.com is operated by Emerald Scout Technologies Limited, a company registered in Ireland under company number 785421, registered office 18 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, D02 WK72, Ireland. That entity is the data controller for personal data collected through this site.
Contact: [email protected].
2. What we collect
We do not run user accounts, and there is nothing on this site to sign up for. In practice that means we collect very little.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page and pages viewed. Collected automatically by the web server and any analytics we use.
- Analytics data — aggregated statistics about how the site is used: which pages are read, for how long, and roughly where visitors come from.
- Correspondence — if you email us, we hold your message and address for as long as needed to deal with it and keep a record.
We do not collect payment details, gambling account details, or special-category data. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
3. Why we process it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Data | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Serving and securing the site | Technical data | Legitimate interests |
| Understanding how the site is used | Analytics data | Consent, where required |
| Attributing affiliate referrals | Referral identifiers | Legitimate interests / consent |
| Answering your email | Correspondence | Legitimate interests |
4. Cookies and affiliate tracking
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them for three things:
- Essential — making the site work. This includes the preview cookie used during development.
- Analytics — measuring usage in aggregate. Set only where you have consented, if consent is required.
- Affiliate attribution — when you click through to an operator, that operator or its affiliate network may set a cookie so a resulting sign-up is attributed to us. This is what pays for the site.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working; blocking affiliate cookies has no effect on you at all beyond us not being credited.
5. Third parties and external links
We may share technical and analytics data with service providers who host the site or provide analytics, acting on our instructions.
Important: when you click a link to a casino operator you leave this site, and that operator's own privacy policy applies from that point. We have no control over and no responsibility for how operators handle your data — including any identity documents you upload to them for verification. This is worth taking seriously with international operators, and we discuss it on our safe casinos page.
The same applies to support organisations we link to. We do not receive any information about whether you contacted them, and those links carry no tracking.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on an adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
7. How long we keep it
Server logs are retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the matter and maintain a reasonable record, then deleted.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased in certain circumstances
- Restrict or object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Irish supervisory authority: the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28 — dataprotection.ie.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we hold. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the most recent change, and material changes will be flagged on the site.
